“A few weeks ago, VA Case Manager Mike Mosites transitioned into retirement and that resulted in mixed emotions for Mike and all of us at Cuddigan Law,” relates Managing Attorney Sean Cuddigan. “Retirement is one of those important life changes. We are happy for Mike as he embarks on a new chapter in his life. We are proud of Mike’s many achievements and how he was able to provide real assistance to so many Veterans in pursuit of their well-earned disability benefits. But we are sad to see him go. His undeniable skills, empathy, and positive outlook will be missed by all of us in the firm.”
As Mike points out, this is actually his second retirement. He served in the U.S. Army for 30 years, retiring with the rank of Command Sergeant Major. “My role,” he says, “was the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Commander, so I reviewed every award and evaluation for all the soldiers in my squadron. This also included working closely with the VA to help process injured soldiers to complete their disability claim prior to leaving the military.”
“When I got out of the service,” Mike recalls, “I applied for work with the VA, but while I was waiting on a response from them, I saw Sean’s ad for a VA Case Manager. I took a shot at applying and was hired. I am so glad it worked out this way. Over my past seven and half years at the firm it has been much more satisfying to be offering a lifeline to other Veterans rather than turning them away as the VA does to so many. This job was like an extension of what I was doing at the end of my Army career.”
“I quickly came to admire how the attorneys and staff at Cuddigan Law approached both VA and Social Security cases. We fought for each client and wouldn’t give up until either that client was awarded benefits, or we had exhausted every — and I mean every — possible course of action.”
Born and raised in Omaha, Mike and his wife Nancy love Nebraska, that’s why they chose to return here after he retired from the Army, and they plan to stay put. “We raised two wonderful children — both grown and moving on with their own lives. Our daughter retired after serving in the Army, and my son lives here in Omaha.” Because Mike loves remodeling, his retirement plans include devoting more time to working on his house but also squeezing in some time for hiking and exploring the outdoors. Travel is also in his plans. He and Nancy have a bucket list of seeing more of the USA and maybe embarking on some overseas trips as well.
