The 4th of July is just days away. If you are looking for a fresh idea for an appetizer to take to the family cookout or to liven up your own meals at home, try these spicy treats.

Ingredients:

  • 12 jalapeño peppers, halved lengthwise
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • Cajun seasoning, or to taste
  • 12 strips jalapeño bacon, halved crosswise
  • Toothpicks

jalapeno pepper

Directions:

Set an oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven's broiler.

Fill jalapeños with cream cheese; sprinkle with Cajun seasoning. Wrap each stuffed jalapeño with 1 halved strip bacon; secure with a toothpick. Arrange wrapped jalapeños in a single layer, stuffed-sides down, on a broiler pan.

Broil in the preheated oven until bacon is crisp, 8 to 15 minutes per side.
