Recruitment has begun for University of Nebraska Medical Center researchers and clinicians who will staff the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. Although the facilities will not be complete for at least three years, it is necessary to locate and persuade talented researcher well ahead of time. This has begun already and the community has donated 100 million dollars to finance the effort. The Nebraska Medical Center already has some of the nation's most talented cancer specialists. The new center will allow for the collaboration of researchers in close proximity to their patients and othe scientists. The current hospital already boasts a reputation as a national  leader in the treatment of Hodgkins and Non-Hodgkins lymphoma and leukemia. Leaders at the University of Nebraska hope that eventually the new Buffett Cancer Center will be designated as a comprehensive treatment center by the National Cancer Institute.
