According to information published by Social Security this week the growth in appovals for disability applicants has declined  for the second year in a row. The increase in the number of approved disability claims was related to demographic factors that had been predicted  by actuaries two decades ago. The factors included: aging of the baby boomers and increase in the work force by the entry of more female workers. These factors explain the increase in the number of workers on Social Security disability. Some critics have pointed to increase in number of workers as a reason to change the definition of disability or other changes. These reasons however are false and misleading and do not recognize population trends and statisitcs.
