May is stroke awareness month. Quick treatment for stroke victims improves the chances of a positive outcome. When a stroke happens blood flow to the brain stops. Every year almost 800,000 people have a stroke and 130,000 people die. Stroke is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. It is a major cause of disability. About 5 million people in the United States live with the effects of a stroke. The faster people get treatment the less likely they are to be permanently disabled or die. Sometimes a stroke is called a Cerebral Vascular Accident or a CVA or  it's just referred to as a brain attack. The administration of a clot busting medicine within four and half hours of the first symptoms and one hour from the arrival at the hospital has been demonstrated by large research studies to improve outcome. The key is the quick treatment.  However not everyone is fortunate enough to get the treatment necessary to avoid having permanent neurological damage.

If you had a stroke and have residuals from the attack such as speech problems or partial paralysis or weakness of one of your limbs work may be impossible for you. Rehabilitation may not restore your ability to work.

If you are unable to work because of the effects of a stroke, we can answer your questions about disability. Contact Cuddigan Law at (402) 933-5405 for our free book, Five Deadly Mistakes That Can Destroy your Disability Case.
